I conduct Seminars & Workshops
for high school students around the country in order to best prepare them for a future in the performing arts. I offer
the following services:
Seminars: A two-to-three hour discussion and question
& answer session regarding the pursuit of a career in the performing arts beyond high school. Topics
discussed include choosing the right program (BA, BFA, Conservatory), choosing the right college, the college application
process and the college audition process. Parents are encouraged to attend along with the students.
Workshops: The workshops are conducted as a master class intensive.
They can be held either over a two-day period (usually a weekend) or one full day. The above seminar is included, but
the workshop focuses specifically on presenting appropriate audition material. Students will bring
in the material (songs & monologues) they wish to use for their college audition and I will coach
their pieces. Students must be ready prior to the workshop to present a 16 bar song with accompaniment and a 1 to 1 ½
minute monologue for coaching. If the student is not auditioning for a musical theatre program, they may bring in two
contrasting one-minute monologues.
Minimum amount of students for these workshops should be no less than 20
students, maximum amount should be no more than 30. All students participating will have their
pieces coached. The second half of the workshop is set up like a “mock” audition so students can have the
experience of going through the typical college audition process.
If you are interested in hosting a seminar or
workshop at your school, please fill out the form on the Contact page of this website. I will respond promptly with
the rates based upon your specific needs. PROFESSIONAL EDUCATORS ARE TALKING ABOUT DEBBIE LAMEDMAN: “Debbie’s sensitivity to deeply probe dramatic
material from the perspective of teenagers, gives her a unique ability in coaching young people toward stronger, more truthful
acting." -Peter Grego, Chair, Department of Theatre, CSU
Northridge; Member of Society of Stage Directors & Choreographers “Debbie Lamedman is a consummate acting coach who understands
what it takes to succeed in college training programs and the professional world. I see a huge difference in students
who have trained with Debbie and those who have had no coaching. I recommend her to students all the time and will continue
to do so." -Earl Weaver, Professor of Musical Theatre, University of Central Florida “Debbie Lamedman is the most valuable weapon
to have in your 'get-into-a-top-college' arsenal. She is hands down the finest coach for preparing young people
for, perhaps, the most important audition of their career. She takes the time, and has the expertise,
to help every student find the college or conservatory that is just the right fit and then mentors them
to success.” -David Green, Executive Director, Executive Director, California
Conservatory of the Arts "I very enthusiastically recommend
Debbie Lamedman. She came to our school for an evening session on College and Career Planning and Preparation for Theater
Arts students. She discussed choosing a college program, preparing for college auditions, and also talked about making a career
in the theater business. The information she shared was very practical and instructive. She is extremely personable and relates
to the kids and parents very well. I most admired how she anticipated questions and addressed them. Everyone who attended
felt their time was well spent. I am definitely bringing her back this year!" -Susan Lord, Laguna Hills High
School Theater Department, Laguna Hills, CA
